Prevent Linen Loss Dean Wendt (91s)
"At every US hospital, nearly 90% of all the linens used, like towels, scrubs, and blankets, don't reach their useful life. This phenomenon is called linen loss, and it costs the healthcare industry more than $840 million a year. You see, linen is typically wasted in one of three ways: Employees who mistakenly take home scrubs. Patients who see hospital linens, especially baby blankets, as complimentary. And through inappropriate disposal of linen as red bag waste and in the garbage. So how can hospitals plug this multi-million dollar hole? The best way is for hospitals to work with their textile service provider. These professionals can measure the problem through a linen audit, identify the hospital's soil factor, and conduct a garbage audit to determine the extent of the problem. Hospitals can also review linen and ambulance policies and, of course, make sure there is clear, helpful signage at red bags and garbage cans. Educating employees about the cost of linen loss and hospital policies to address the issue can be extremely helpful. Saving money without impairing patient care is a priority for every hospital. Working with your laundry service will help your hospital better control linen costs. Visit TRSA.org and connect with your local textile services provider to learn more."

Dassault Falcon (235s)
"As an operator or service technician, you have a responsibility to service Dassault Falcon aircraft. And at Dassault Falcon, we have a responsibility to provide quality parts, while reducing the number of DOA and no fault found occurrences. To do this, we need you, the dedicated, professional aircraft technicians working on the aircraft. Your time is valuable, but your expertise in creating clear reports helps our repair agents, your fellow technicians, keep you well supplied with quality parts. For the next couple of minutes, we'll explain why it's so important to fill out service reports and material return tags correctly and completely, and how everyone can help improve the quality of parts from Dassault Falcon. Parts require service or replacement for many reasons. DOAs are your call. If a part fails out of the box or within 10 flight hours, tag it DOA with a description of the squawk, and let us know. When you send it in, a repair agent thoroughly bench tests and inspects it to try and recreate and verify what you have reported. Root causes aren't always obvious. So if you don't include enough information, it affects the repair agent's ability to do the repair and return the part to a serviceable state. And if the fault cannot be duplicated, it's classified as no fault found. When a part is deemed a no fault found, it increases costs and erodes customer trust. That's why it's critical to provide comprehensive details when you complete service reports and/or material return tags. It's like a helpful note between technicians, expediting the necessary repair to make it available to future customers with confidence. This information is also cataloged in a database of reported failures to continuously improve the reliability and performance of parts for everyone. In the next chapter, we'll show you just how easy it is using our convenient online submission form. Here's the form. Don't worry, we'll link to it at the end of this presentation for quick access. First, fill out the necessary aircraft and serial number information, part number and part serial number. Take note of the DOA and the used in troubleshooting drop-downs if applicable. Most important is the description. This box is crucial to fill out entirely. See, the more accurate your description of the fault, the easier it is for our repair technicians to recreate the issue, then find and repair the faults. First, let's see some incomplete examples. Descriptions like these are too general and can cause delays or lead to a part being improperly classified as no fault found when, in reality, the part may be defective and needs to be worked on. It helps to give the repair technicians pointers or tips on what the problem is and how to find it themselves. Let them know the correct flight hours, cycles, fault descriptions, and codes. Thoroughly fill out the whole service report so they know how to proceed. Here's some examples with great helpful information. For a water filter cartridge, the technician reported that, "the threaded post is not seated in filter, exposing O-ring and allowing filter to leak." Or this computer unit: "TCAS and FAIL CAS message posted during descent. TCAS FAIL red light illuminated on TCAS unit. Replacement unit corrected discrepancy." These are just samples, but these details give us actionable information that helps diagnose a problem properly, ultimately reducing the number of no fault finds and improving the entire repair process. Just remember, the more details we receive, the more comprehensive the repair, helping you get good parts in the future, too. And don't forget to fill out the material return tags. They're just as important as they help route the parts to the right technicians for the right tests. Thanks for watching. Dassault Falcon appreciates your cooperation and assistance in helping reduce no fault finds. Have questions? Give us a call."

Dallas Theological 90th Anniversary (367s)
"90 years ago, in 1924, a time positioned between two World Wars, at the threshold of the Great Depression, and with theological liberalism sweeping through seminaries across the United States, God moved in the hearts of three men who were burdened for their generation: Lewis Sperry Chafer, W. H. Griffith Thomas, and A. B. Winchester. These men urgently prayed for a seminary where all study would be centered on Scripture and faculty would share in common one textbook, the Bible. They envisioned a school that would be led by one teacher, the Holy Spirit. Unlike at other seminaries, the curriculum would cover all 66 books of the Bible, and its students would see grace lived out in their professors' lives. And, as history would tell, these three men realized their goal in 1924, when the Evangelical Theological College opened its door to the inaugural class. The first president was noted Bible teacher Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer, who hand-picked the original 13 students. This seminary would equip men to teach and preach the Scriptures using the expository method, examining God's Word verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Since 1924, the world has been impacted by the ministries of DTS alumni, beginning with the first graduate, Roy Aldrich. After graduation, Roy helped establish the Detroit Bible College and served as president for 22 years. Six Aldriches followed Roy in attending DTS. Each decade since, the Lord has raised up new Christian leaders to speak to their times. The 1930s saw J. Vernon McGee, who launched Thru the Bible radio program. Even today, his words still ring with truth and relevancy from a voice that is undeniable. His messages are broadcast in more than 100 languages and aired daily in every continent. A student in the 1940s, Jim Rayburn met a challenge to reach teens for Christ. The first Young Life meeting was held on the DTS campus in the basement of Stearns Hall. In 2013, Young Life reached 1.4 million kids for Christ through their worldwide network of clubs and camps. Behind black horn-rimmed glasses, Howard Hendricks arrived on campus in the '50s. He in turn went on to teach thousands of students in his 50-year career as a professor at DTS. Also known as an expert in the field of Christian leadership, our beloved Prof helped shape many of the world's ministry leaders. In the '60s at Dallas Seminary, a young Marine with a crew cut could be found both in the classroom and working as the seminary's groundskeeper. Chuck Swindoll prepared for the ministry by studying at DTS. Today, his Insight for Living broadcasts can be heard worldwide more than 2,000 times a day in seven different languages. DTS is blessed to have him serve as Chancellor. As divorce rates escalated in the '70s, a young man with a heart for marriage and parenting resources arrived at DTS. Dennis Rainey went on to found FamilyLife, a ministry that reaches 1.5 million families through radio, marriage and parenting conferences, books, study guides, and DVDs. In the '80s, Tony Evans completed his doctoral studies. Together with his wife Lois, he founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. In the years since, the church has grown from 10 members to more than 9,700 members. Tony also founded and serves as president of The Alternative, a radio and television ministry that's committed to transforming inner-city neighborhoods nationwide. In the 1990s, Randy Hahn came to DTS with the hope of making Christ known through the pastorate. Today, Randy serves as the senior pastor of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Chesterfield, Virginia. Other graduates from the '90s include Russian Peter Mitskevich, who serves as president of Moscow Theological Seminary, and Romanian Cristian Barbosu, who serves as senior pastor at Harvest Metanoia Church in Arad, Romania. Since the year 2000, the DTS student body has included a growing number of international students. In 2013, students from 54 different countries attended DTS, adding a wonderful diversity to the seminary community. The student body has also included remarkable women such as LeTitia Watkins, a Houston prison chaplain, Jennie Allen, a women's conference speaker and Bible study author, and Priscilla Shirer, New York Times best-selling author and co-founder of Going Beyond Ministries. Today, the Lord is using DTS alumni in even larger spheres of influence. Terrence Brooks serves as a church planter in inner-city L.A. In nearby Hollywood, Naeema Let is an actor, producer, and co-church planter. At Texas A&M University, Ben Stuart leads Breakaway Ministries, teaching thousands of students every week. And Ed Compean serves as a translator and missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. These are just a tiny sampling of the more than 15,000 alumni who learned to teach truth and love well at DTS. Today, they serve in 104 countries. In some of their stories, we can't even tell without compromising their safety. While much has changed in the world since 1924, including changes to DTS's campus and its technology, the vital, crucial things have remained the same. For 90 years, through the stewardship of its visionary leaders, including Presidents John Walvoord, Donald Campbell, Charles Swindoll, and Mark Bailey, DTS has stayed true to the original beliefs: the authority of Scripture as the Word of God, God's grace through the person and work of Jesus Christ, new life in the Spirit, and the imminent return of Christ, which calls us all to fulfill the Great Commission. These essentials have driven DTS for 90 years, and they will continue to drive us, by the grace of God, until Christ returns."

You see, linen is typically wasted in one of three ways. Employees who mistakenly take home scrubs, patients who see hospital linens, especially baby blankets, as complementary, and through inappropriate disposal of linen as red bag waste and in the garbage. So how can hospitals plug this multi-million dollar hole? The best way is for hospitals to work with their textile service provider. These professionals can measure the problem through a linen audit, identify the hospital's soil factor, and conduct a garbage audit to determine the extent of the problem. Hospitals can also review linen and ambulance policies, and of course, make sure there is clear, helpful signage at red bags and garbage cans.

And at Dassault Falcon, we have a responsibility to provide quality parts while reducing the number of DOA and no fault found occurrences. To do this, we need you, the dedicated professional aircraft technicians working on the aircraft. Your time is valuable, but your expertise in creating clear reports helps our repair agents, your fellow technicians, keep you well-supplied with quality parts. For the next couple of minutes, we'll explain why it's so important to fill out service reports and material return tags correctly and completely, and how everyone can help improve the quality of parts from Dassault Falcon. Parts require service or replacement for many reasons. DOAs are your call. If a part fails out of the box or within 10 flight hours, tag it DOA with a description of the squawk and let us know. When you send it in, a repair agent thoroughly bench tests and inspects it to try and recreate and verify what you have reported. Root causes aren't always obvious. So if you don't include enough information, it affects the repair agent's ability to do the repair and return the part to its serviceable state. First, fill out the necessary aircraft and serial number information, part number, and part serial number. Descriptions like these are too general and can cause delays or lead to a part being improperly classified as no fault found, when, in reality, the part may be defective and needs to be worked on. It helps to give the repair technicians pointers or tips on what the problem is and how to find it themselves. Let them know the correct flight hours, cycles, fault descriptions, and codes. Thoroughly fill out the whole service report so they know how to proceed. Here's some examples with great helpful information. For a water filter cartridge, the technician reported that, "The threaded post is not seated in filter, exposing O-ring and allowing filter to leak." Or this computer unit, "TCAS and FAIL CAS message posted during descent. Dassault Falcon appreciates your cooperation and assistance in helping reduce no fault founds.

B. Winchester. These men urgently prayed for a seminary where all study would be centered on Scripture and faculty would share in common one textbook: the Bible. They envisioned a school that would be led by one teacher, the Holy Spirit. Unlike at other seminaries, the curriculum would cover all 66 books of the Bible, and its students would see grace lived out in their professors' lives. And as history would tell, these three men realized their goal in 1924, when the Evangelical Theological College opened its door to the inaugural class. The first president was noted Bible teacher, Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer, who handpicked the original 13 students. This seminary would equip men to teach and preach the Scriptures using the expository method, examining God's word verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Since 1924, the world has been impacted by the ministries of DTS alumni. Beginning with the first graduate, Roy Aldrich. His messages are broadcast in more than 100 languages and air daily in every continent. A student in the 1940s, Jim Rayburn, met a challenge to reach teens for Christ. The first Young Life meeting was held on the DTS campus in the basement of Stearns Hall. In 2013, Young Life reached 1.4 million kids for Christ through their worldwide network of clubs and camps. Behind black, horn-rimmed glasses, Howard Hendricks arrived on campus in the '50s. Today, his Insight for Living broadcast can be heard worldwide more than 2,000 times a day in seven different languages. Other graduates from the '90s include Russian Peter Mitskevich, who serves as president of Moscow Theological Seminary, and Romanian Christian Barbosu, who serves as senior pastor at Harvest Metanoia Church in Arad, Romania. Since the year 2000, the DTS student body has included a growing number of international students. In 2013, students from 54 different countries attended DTS, adding a wonderful diversity to the seminary community. The student body has also included remarkable women such as Letti Watkins, a Houston prison chaplain; Jennie Allen, a women's conference speaker and Bible study author; and Priscilla Shirer, New York Times best-selling author and co-founder of Going Beyond Ministries. Today, the Lord is using DTS alumni in even larger spheres of influence. Terrence Brooks serves as a church planter in inner city LA. In nearby Hollywood, Naimah Lat is an actor, producer, and co-church planter. At Texas A&M University, Ben Stuart leads Breakaway Ministries, teaching thousands of students every week. And Ed Conrad serves as a translator and missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Winning Isn't Everything Political (41s)
"To some politicians, winning's everything, even if our country loses. Like Obamacare, passed along partisan lines. Supporters like Senator Franken didn't read the bill, didn't know what was in it, how it would impact our lives. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it. They just wanted to win. And now, Americans are losing. Premiums and costs are up, choices are fewer, our plans are canceled. KILL SPILL (187s)
"Every year, thousands of people are injured in our stores as a result of slipping or tripping on something on the floor. Last year alone, there were more than 19,000 slipping and tripping incidents reported in our stores. That's colleagues like you being hurt, as well as customers. And here's the thing. Most of those accidents could have been prevented. I'm Kill Spill, and I need your help. Know your enemy. There are five big problems which cause most of the accidents in our stores. I call them the Filthy Five. Let's take a look at them. Grapes of wrath. Number one is grapes and the other squishy fruit you find on the shelves near them. Did you know, more accidents are caused by grapes than anything else in our stores? Slippery little suckers, aren't they? Water pain. Number two is water. Water can come from a lot of places. When it's raining or snowing, you'll always find it near door areas. Or it might be leaking from a faulty refrigeration unit. Wherever it's coming from, it's slippery and it's not always easy to spot. Wicked walkways. Number three is walkways and flooring, not just in the store, but out in the car park and paved areas as well. Trust me, if you fall down here, it'll hurt. Loathsome liquids. Number four is liquids. Things like milk, shampoo, fabric conditioner. If a big bottle blows its lid, it may smell like pine forests, but that's a lot of slippery bubbles on the lino. Pack attack. And finally, last and no means least, comes packaging. That's a particular problem in the storage areas, where you've got loads of cardboard, cling wrap, binding straps and so on. An ankle tapping nightmare. So, that's the Filthy Five. They're bad, and they hurt people. But we can beat them if we all play our part. Beat the enemy. There are three things we all need to do to help prevent slipping and tripping accidents. One, see it. First, we need to keep our eyes peeled for any of these problems in store. Two, sort it. Next, we need to take responsibility for sorting it. If you see a problem, just stop what you're doing and deal with it. If you leave it, even for a moment, someone may get hurt. So, deal with it right away, even if it's just making it safe while you go for help. In aisles around the store, you'll find a selection of tools to help you clean as you go. You'll also find a warning sign, which you should set up in the aisle to warn people to be careful. Report it. The third thing you need to do is let your manager know. This is especially important if you haven't been able to deal with the problem yourself. But even if you've taken care of it, you should report it, so your manager can log it and check there's not a problem, like a leaking refrigeration unit for instance, and so they can thank you for dealing with it promptly. Thanks to guys like these and like you, we're starting to bring our tripping and slipping accidents right down. Just remember: see it, sort it, report it. And together, we'll kill those spills. I love you, guys."

DL MOODY BIOGRAPHY (130s)
"Chapter 19 Yale and the Coming of Summer Let never day nor night unhallowed pass, but still remember what the Lord hath done. Henry VI, William Shakespeare As 1898 began, Moody turned 61. It was said that he rode the crest of the wave in campaigns, institutions, and home. Just days after his February 5th birthday, a series of meetings began that would confirm his place among the great preachers of the 19th century. The capstone, reported the New York Times on Valentine's Day, February 14th, was a monster meeting in the Hyperion Theater of New Haven, Connecticut, where 2,000 people were turned away for lack of room. It was one of several visits Moody made in the 1890s to speak before large gatherings of students from Yale. That monster meeting occurred on Sunday evening, February 13th, and there had been a morning meeting as well. In all the services, the Times reported, unprecedented interest was taken by the students. The Young Men's Christian Association had sponsored the evening gathering, which was so largely attended that the students not only crowded the big hall to suffocation almost, but filled the stairwells as well, reported the Times. And at the close, a delegation from each class requested Mr. Moody to remain several days, or if that was impossible, to return to Yale again in the near future. After the evening meeting, Moody granted an interview. In it, he offered a stalwart defense of Yale, based in large part on the very positive experiences that both his sons, first Will, then Paul, had known there. "I have been pretty well acquainted with Yale for 20 years," he said, "and I have never seen the university in as good condition, religiously, as now. My oldest son graduated here, and if my other son, who is now in the freshman class, gets as much good out of Yale as his brother did, I shall have reason to thank God through time and eternity." Clearly, this visit, above others he'd known, meant a great deal. "I can honestly say," he told the Times reporter, "I've never spent so good a day at Yale as today has been. And I never saw so earnest and inquiring a crowd of young men as that which attended service this evening.""

Soccer Meditation with Music (328s)
"Take a few seconds to get as comfortable as you can get. Turn off the lights in your room, turn off any electronics, cell phone, radio, or TV, in order to prevent you from getting interrupted. Sit down in a comfortable chair and keep your spine perfectly straight. Close your eyes. Relax. Take a deep breath in through your nose to the count of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Hold it. Slowly exhale all the air out of your mouth. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Relax your chest. Inhale again through your nose, but always try using your throat. Nose and mouth should only be a passageway for the air. Hold it for a few seconds. And then slowly exhale the air through your mouth, creating the ah sound. Perfect. Inhale again through the nose, creating a little bit of a snoring sound. Hold the air in. Slowly exhale, gently pushing the air out of your lungs until there is completely nothing left. Great. Keeping your eyes closed, breathe normal through your nose. Relax all the muscles. Clear your mind of any worries, any emotions, and any thoughts. Concentrate on the breathing. Meditate. Concentrate on your feet and release all the tension. Relax your legs. Continue to breathe smoothly, softly, and gently. Relax your stomach. Relax your chest. Let it expand and collapse naturally without any additional effort. Relax your shoulders, your arms, and your hands. Try not to move around and let go of all the tension in your fingers. Relax your neck and your face. Gently smile, allowing all those tense muscles in your face to completely relax. Let go of everything. This is your time. Concentrate on the words that you hear. Allow your subconscious mind to open up and to absorb everything that serves you in this moment of time. Relax. I am here to let go of all the tension and to concentrate on my meditation. I am here to feel at peace and in harmony with who I truly am. I am happy, healthy, and absolutely relaxed. Take a few seconds to remember the happiest moment in your soccer career. Where were you? When was this? What happened? Why do you feel so good about that period of time? Take a few seconds. Gently smile. Absorb all the positive energy from that moment. Perhaps there are several events in your mind. Perfect. You don't need to picture each and every single detail. What's most important is that you feel good. Be proud of yourself. Absorb all the positive energy of that moment of that time. Now take another deep breath in through your nose. Hold it for a second or two, and slowly exhale. When there is nothing left in your lungs, gently smile once again, relaxing all those muscles on your face. Breathe normal. I am truly happy when I play the game. I share that happiness with my teammates and everyone who supports me. I can see my teammates congratulating me, and everyone cheering me on. I feel a great sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Take another deep breath in. Hold it. Slowly, gently, let everything out. I know that moments like the one I just pictured will come again, because opportunities in life are infinite. I'm grateful for these moments and opportunities."

Monday Memos (51s)
"January 1st. Work before the fall. The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Genesis 2:15. What was one of the first things God did for man? He took man and put him in a place where he was supposed to work. This was not an act of slavery or a consequence of the fall. This was before sin and not a consequence of our fallen state. God placed man in the perfect place so he could work. Here in this pure world that was uncorrupted and unspoiled by sin, God called man to work. Work is from God and a good thing. It is ordained by a Creator who knows what is important for us. He created a garden that needed some work to be done and knew that it was good for man to work. Work is not a curse. It is a gift of God. Quick prayer. I acknowledge that work came from you, not from the curse. Amen."

War of the Worlds (60s)
"September 18th, 2073. It has been exactly 26 years since they first arrived. Looking back over the history of literature and the many depictions in past novels, the countless tellings in science fiction lore of how aliens would finally arrive and make themselves known to us, had never in truth come close to describing the reality we faced. They never captured the depths of our sheer and utter dread when it did finally come to pass. Some of these accounts were, of course, laughable. But in truth, nothing would have prepared us for the actual experience of their coming, or the imposition of their physical being, or of the undeniable acknowledgment of their superiority to us in every way. The technological advancements alone of their ship and their tools were simply beyond our imaginations to comprehend, and in their presence, we were so overwhelmed that the bravest of us were left trembling and speechless."

Alien (50s)
""Did you see that?" Arnold asked. Ida, busy with a map, was trying to find out where in the hell they were. Somewhere in Northern Arizona. That much at least was certain. Lost on a road that stubbornly defied identifying itself. "See what, dear?" she said absently. "That sign we just passed." "No, I was busy trying to find us on the map. Did you see a road sign?" "No, there was a sign outside that last cabin we passed." Arnold was already slowing down and looking for a place to turn around. "I'm going back. At the very least we can ask them directions." Arnold found a logging road and managed to make a three-point turn without getting them stuck in a ditch. Ida folded the useless map and asked, "What did the sign say?" "Here it comes. Read it for yourself." The hand-lettered sign sat beside the weedy drive. It read, "Alien Artifacts" in six-inch high letters."

The Bear (37s)
"The end seemed very near for Hudson, a Canadian Eskimo dog tethered near the shore of Hudson Bay, east of Churchill, Manitoba. A thousand-pound polar bear was lumbering toward the dog and about 40 others, the prized possessions of Brian Ladoon, a hunter and trapper. It was mid-November. Ice had not yet formed on the bay, and the open water prevented bears from hunting their favorite prey, seals. So this bear had been virtually fasting for four months. Surely a dog was destined to become a meal. The bear closed in. Did Hudson howl in terror and try to flee? On the contrary. He wagged his tail, grinned, and actually bowed to the bear, as if in invitation."

Government Awards Dean Wendt (127s)
"Stretching from Washington to Florida, our 20 finalists hail from cities, counties, parks, and utilities of all sizes. But they have one thing in common. They're on a mission to build high-performance government. Let's start with Bay County, Florida, who leveraged a half-cent surtax to improve their roadways, using the data in Cartegraph to drive their decisions. In Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish is loving life with real-time data. They may be new to Cartegraph, but they're already using it to proactively monitor trends around work and requests. The team in Arlington, Texas is streamlining emergency response, using OMS to help dispatch crews and provide road condition updates. And the city of Burlingame, California is integrating systems to engage with its tech-savvy citizens, route internal requests, and save time on sewer inspections. The Public Works crew in La Mesa is working to respond to every requester within 24 hours, and they're using automations and dashboards to track progress toward their goal. The city of Lancaster, Ohio was able to justify adding a new team member, delivering a 60% increase in inspections. And Clay County, Florida saved roughly $110,000 on their annual hydrant inspections, thanks to Automation Manager. In DeKalb County, Georgia is using data to automate road maintenance activities and justify 25 new positions. The Village of Bensenville, Illinois spread the Cartegraph love across all units, replacing sticky notes and email requests with one central system. In nearby Lombard, the Public Works team overhauled its old workflows, saving $15,000 on hydrant flushing alone. Rounding out this Chicagoland crew, the Village of Romeoville is eliminating duplicate work in data entry, saving 520 hours annually. Finally, Windsor, Colorado is using data to overcome growing pains, justifying a 40% increase to its asphalt program budget and a 56% increase for snow operations. Congratulations to the 20 finalists for this year's High-Performance Government Awards."
